March for Our Lives
March for Our Lives will take place on March 24, 2018, for the first time. Sadly, as a result of the numerous school shootings in the United States, and most recently the deaths of 17 children at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, a planned demonstration, has been scheduled.
On March 24, the kids and families of March For Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington DC to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end this epidemic of mass school shootings. Student organizers are planning the march in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Everytown for Gun Safety. This event is being reported in the media as the tipping point for gun control legislation.
With celebrity backing from Amal and George Clooney, Oprah, Jeffrey Katzenberg and his wife Marilyn all contributing $500,000 to the event and the support of other celebrities including Justin Bieber, Alyssa Milano, Amy Schumer and many more, the event has everyone’s attention.
When is March for Our Lives?
March 24th. The date was chosen in order to give students, families and others a chance to mourn the loss of their loved ones as a result of the shooting on February 14th in Florida.
Type of Event?
This is the first year the event is being held. Hopefully, change to the gun laws will begin and we will not have to march every year on March 24th.
