National Chocolate Day? One would think there is a week for chocolate? This day has been set aside every year to celebrate a favorite sweet treat that has been delighting both children and adults of all ages for generations. There are a number of holidays dedicated to celebrating the sweet treat, including National Peppermint Patty Day, National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day,World Nutella Day and National Chocolate Mint Day but this holiday is all about straight up chocolate – milk, dark or white.

- In 1971 there was a chocolate river made for the popular movie, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
- Milton Hershey didn’t begin with chocolate. He switched to making chocolate as his primary product, after creating chocolate covered caramel.
- The chocolate chip cookie was created by accident in 1930 by Ruth Wakefield. She was out of baker’s chocolate and mixed broken piece of Nestle chocolate into her cookie dough, thinking it would be dissolved. Instead, she accidentally created chocolate chip cookies, and later sold the idea to Nestle in return for a lifetime supply of chocolate.
- You can actually die from eating too much chocolate! You would have to eat 22lbs of chocolate for that to happen – so chances are you would get sick before you died.
