Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day is a non-profit educational program in the United States, Canada and Australia that revolves around parents taking their children to work for the day. The holiday originally began as Take Our Daughters To Work Day, but was expanded to include boys in 2003.

When is Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day?

The day is celebrated on the last Thursday in April.  For 2020 the date falls on April 23rd and for 2021 the date falls on April 22nd.

  • In the U.S., it occurs on the fourth Thursday in April every year; in Ontario, it occurs on the 1st Wednesday of November. In Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane Australia it occurs on January 5, just after Christmas Break.
  • Take Our Daughters To Work Day was created in New York City in the summer of 1992 by the Ms. Foundation for Women.
  • Boys were officially included in the program in 2003
